This big mama turned six months this week! She is growing like a weed and has been changing so much developmentally over the past few weeks. At about 5 months she said her first word...and it was "mama" wahoo! I had been working on that since she was born. A few days later I kept repeating "dada" and showing her Josh's picture and one day when he came home, he picked her up and she said it....so now we are even ;) She also sounds like she says "grandma,"and she will wave and say "hi".
Overall though, she is changing from acting like an infant to acting like a little girl. She can be quite serious at times, she always watches people when they talk and is very aware of what is going on around her. She is not a big crier and she eats very well. She is a great baby. I am very lucky. Her smile makes my day and her little face is too stinking cute!!
Here is a peek at Lucia at 6 months.
It's official! Josh and I closed on our home in South Jersey last week! The home is in the neighborhood we wanted and about 20 minutes from Philadelphia, where Josh is working. We were just saying yesterday how thankful we are to the good Lord for helping us find a place we love...so quickly! The timing was perfect.
So a little bit about the home. The structure or "bones" of the house are in great shape. The people who lived there were the original owners and had lived there since 1955! So they took very good care of the house (minus the fact that they wallpapered and re-wallpapered and re-wallpapered nearly a dozen times). Everything was kept up. So the only major thing we have to do is bring the home back from the 60's to 2015.
That being said...the list of projects in my head is enough to make me explode. I love to craft, refinish, update, blah blah so this is my dream come true. However, I promised Josh to take it slow so I don't spend all the nice money he is making at his new fancy job.
To get into the house we are painting the walls, pulling up the carpet up and knocking down one wall between the kitchen and the dining room...all things I do not want Lucia in the house for. Then, once we get in, we will go room by room updating and making the house our own!
Here are some of the before pictures. These are a few shots the realtor had online. This gives you a feel for the home...very outdated...but the space is great! The house has three levels. The first level is a bathroom, the laundry room and a second living room that will be Lucia's playroom (toys everywhere makes me bonkers.) The second floor and main level is the living room, dining room, kitchen and built in porch. The third level is the three bedrooms and the main bath. I love the layout.
We will keep you guys posted with some before and afters! Pray for a good transition for us.
I mean....can you even stand how cute this girl is? I know every parent says that, but seriously guys...she is so adorable! Some times when I look at her I can't even stand it, I could burst. Lucia is such a joy...it's such a blessing that I get to spend my days with her...and watching her grow and change and learn is so awesome.
On the 26th our big girl turned five months! I feel like there was so much change in her from three to five months. She is even more aware of the world around her, she wants to play all the time, and even though she will go to anyone, she really loves being on mom or dad now.
Lucia is a really good baby. When we are out and about, or just hanging during the day, she will only cry when she is hungry...otherwise she will play, laugh and smile the rest of the time...now the night...well that's another story. But friends, lets focus on the positives ha!
We went for an early six month check up at the pediatrician because we are moving and I still am in search of a good one in Cherry Hill, so here are some of her 5 month stats.
Weight: 18 lbs 6 oz -->92%
Height: 27 inches --> 90%
Head Circumference: 45 cm --> 98%
