We are getting Baby D plumped up!!
From 20 to 24 weeks I popped out for sure. I also gained like 8 pounds (oh mama). So total at this point, I think I am up 15-16 pounds.
They say at this point you will gain about another pound a week so that would be about another 15-16 and I would be fine with that. Thankfully, it seems like it is all going to the belly, so I am grateful for that..for sure!!
I am feeling pretty good. It's starting to get a little uncomfortable getting up and down off the floor or to put my socks and shoes on, but besides that I am living the dream...and trust me I am milking it for all it is worth with Josh ;) I tried to get him to paint my toes the other day but he drew the line there...whatever.
As for Baby D he/she is wild as heck. But I wouldn't expect anything less from a child of Josh and I. It moves literally all day long. Maybe I will go an hour here and there without any movement, but that is about it. It is a wild child!
Finally?!?! on Sunday we will find out if it is a girl or a boy and I can't freaking wait. I am literally bursting to find out!! We invited immediate family and my close girlfriends over for some snacks and the big reveal and we couldn't be more excited! Most people are thinking it is a boy...Josh and I agree...but we would be pumped either way. We will definitely keep you all posted! 16 More weeks! Wahoo!
So Josh and I have come to the realization that we only have 16 weeks left until Baby D comes and the chances of us, in that time frame, finding a house, putting in an offer and moving into it, is slim to none. After searching since September, putting in offers and looking at dozens of homes we just have had no luck. I guess, at this time, God just wants us to stay put. It's a big decision to buy a house and we want to make sure we are smart about it. Also, the thought of moving while I am a beastly 9-months pregnant in the heat of July sounds like a brick to the face.
So all that being said...we have to start working on Baby D's nursery. We live in a very nice two bedroomish apartment. They are brand new (and we pay for it) but the second room we have is really for an office...it has no closet and its on the small side. But it is going to have to do for the first few months of Baby D's life because there is no way I am moving to another apartment and then finding a house and moving again...no way!!
We took out the desk, book shelves, carpet, fish tank and book case and now the room is a disastrous mess of crap everywhere...we need to take this...
Ok moms, please tell me I am not alone in worrying about this!
Let's be honest folks, some newborns come out looking crazy as hell. There are even articles like this one on Wikihow to help you to react to an ugly baby. Look at that baby in the corner!!!! He is so ugly!!
A Time magazine survey took a look at which professions are likely to have the most psychopaths.
No surprise to me, media professionals took the number three spot. To be in the media business you have to be around or get used to hearing bad news. It's a tough job for the weak at heart. Some become numb, some are deeply affected by the job daily and some just block it out of their minds on their down time. But eventually I guess it turns some people bonkers!!
CEO's and lawyers took numbers one and two and on the least likely list...nurses, hair dressers and therapists took some of the top spots. Take a look.
I'm not really a sports person. I played volleyball and ran track in high school and dabbled in softball in middle school, but it pretty much stops there. Now, if you know my husband you will know he is a huge Ohio State fan so he has somewhat recruited me to loving them. I have never watched more sports than I have in the three years we have been together...I don't mind it, but sometimes it gets annoying and I just don't want to watch another game.
BUT...when I can get some skin in the game...it peeks my interest!! I am guilty of loving to gamble here and there. So if you throw a bracket in front of me with a prize potential at the end...you better believe I am going to play and keep my eye on these games. So that being said, I got myself in three different pools. A few teams...like The Ohio State (so disappointing!!) and Cincinnati already busted up my billion dollar chance...but I think I still have a decent bunch of picks! I zoomed in on the final picks for you to check out!
I am kind of a nut when it comes to natural remedies and eating right. I Google too much and I am obsessed with looking at the ingredients of things.
I would rather drink raisin tea brewed for one hour (yes I did this when I had a fever) than take Tylenol. So I have found some helpful FREE apps in my travels that have aided me in home remedies, natural health news, and new research on the horizon. I have an iPhone, but most of these are for Androids too. Check out my list!
Okay, so I will admit, I did not think that looking for a home would be that difficult. I guess I am a little picky, but still I thought after a few searches and visits we would find a nice starter home in a month or two.
Well...its been six months and we are still looking. We really wanted to get into a home before Baby D comes!! And we only have four months left!?
When we moved from Iowa we knew the cost of homes were going to go up quite a bit. But the difference between prices and what you can get for the prices from Iowa and New York was VERY different.
Josh and I have been blessed with some pretty wonderful people in our lives and because of this we don't get just one baby shower, but two! My husband's family lives in Overland Park, KS and many of our dear friends live in Des Moines, IA.
This weekend we got to spend time with both in Kansas...and they all showed how much they love Baby D already!
The shower was put on by my sister-in-law Erica...and it was amazing! They held it at this place called,The Vintage House. This is a small home in Overland Park, KS that you could rent out for quaint get-togethers. It is filled with amazing antiques and decorated so uniquely! Perfect for baby showers!!
We decided to invite the men too...which was interesting! Some were nervous because they had never been to a baby shower before, but I loved seeing them there.
Erica really did a great job planning this event. There were games for Josh and I, prizes, favors and tons of food. We had a name suggestion vase and we read off the great picks the boys wrote...lets just say there were some interesting gems in there.
I have been making these a lot lately, and have gotten some compliments on them, so I figured I would share the recipe!
These are a typical Italian favorite. My Nanny (mom's mom) used to make these. They are normally made around Christmas but I just love them, so I make them all the time!
I tweaked the original recipe a bit so I will share the way I make them!
It's so easy to read stories in the Bible quickly, get the gist of the story, pull maybe one of two things out of it and move on. I am guilty of this for sure.
I have read the story of Sarai and Hagar and Leah and Rachel dozens of times. This weekend though, I got a completely different perspective on who these women were.
My mother, sister, a few relatives and some of my mothers close friends joined 300 other women from the tri-state area for the women's retreat called "Flawless." Flawed women who serve a flawless God who sees us as righteous. That was the overarching theme of the weekend. The retreat was held at Tuscarora Inn in Mt. Bethal, PA. We used to come here with our old church when we were a little, but I hadn't been back in over a decade.
We don't know yet?!?!! Keep reading, I'll explain.
Today was our 20 week appointment and it was AMAZING! I was looking forward to it for weeks because my belly has popped and Baby D is a maniac in there. I needed to see what he/she is up to!
The technician agreed about Baby D's craziness! It did not stop moving for the entire hour and a half scan (it was so long BECAUSE...baby D wouldn't STOP moving!) The tech said because of the placement of my placenta, I can feel the baby more than other woman may, that is why it feels so crazy sometimes. It's pretty awesome though.
...And it was amazing to watch it stretch, wave its hands, open its mouth and wiggle around.
Baby D is measuring right where it should. The heart rate is a perfect 164 and it has all its parts that are working together wonderfully! God is so awesome! Here are some of the pictures we got today.
