Last week my sister and mother threw me another beautiful shower!! There were nearly 50 of mine and my mother's closest friends and family that came. Some women who I have known all my life and friends that have been by my side for over 15 years.
It was a catered brunch at a beautiful spot near my sisters condo. One of the women that came (that used to baby sit me!) made all of the wonderful cookie favors and the desserts!
We played games, opened gifts and stuffed our faces!!
It was so humbling when opening all the gifts. Out of 99 things we put on our registry there were only 9 things left after this shower! Hundreds of dollars worth of gifts...it was incredible.
Now, I am not a crier folks. It takes a lot for me to shed a tear normally. But my mother made the tears flow at the end of my shower....The only lady missing at this shower was my Nanny. My mother's mom, passed away in 2003. She was like my second mother and my best friend. Our birthday's were two days apart and I always loved celebrating it with her. As I got older she became my friend. She was one of the kindest, most loving and sacrificing women I have ever known. I got to spend 20 wonderful years with her before she died. She was all that was missing from this day. I know she would just be in love with baby girl!! So at the end of the shower my mom gave me a gift. Inside was a little pink coat and bonnet that my Nanny gave her for me when I was a little girl.
Then she read this note...
I can honestly say I have been looking forward to our 32 week ultrasound since I got pregnant. With the awesome technology they have these days, you can get an amazing peek inside the womb. My friend Jess's 3D photo looked so much like her baby when he came out, it was crazy! So I was pumped! First, when we got to the ultrasound they checked on her growth. She is right on track, praise God! They measured her little bones and her head and she is measuring perfect for how far along I am. She clocked in at 4.3 pounds, which means, if she gained the projected 1/2 pound each week for the rest of the pregnancy she will be a little over 8 pounds...BUT could be up to 9! Yikes! I knew we would have a big baby! Josh and I were both almost 9 pounders!
Aside from decorating the walls, Baby Girl's room is pretty much done! Wahoo! So I showed some of our projects that we did... (headboard, rocker, changing table)...our last large task was finding a solution for clothing and storage for the room.
Since we did not find a home to buy in time, and honestly we are second thinking buying a home here at all (that's another story)...we had to work with what we have. The room for her nursery was an office and did not have a closet, so we had to come up with a solution. After searching around I found this picture.
I am not really big on having clothes exposed, but Baby Girl's are SO STINKING cute I thought what the heck! So we started with buying pieces of wood at home depot. Josh cut them to size (that was a scary experience) and we primed and painted them white.
31 Weeks!!!! Only 9 weeks left! We are heading into the home stretch and we are super excited! Baby Girl is moving around like crazy still and she is packing on the pounds. They were not kidding about how the third trimester is the time when you and baby get freaking huge!! I am up about 22 pounds total...and it seems like it is all in my belly, which is kind of scary. Josh and I were both 9 pounders...so....I'm not going to lie I am a little nervous she is going to be huge!!
In a week and a half we go for our 32 week ultrasound, where we will get to see how big she is and we get one of those awesome 3D sonograms. I can't wait to see what she looks like!!
I had my New Jersey shower this weekend and we were blessed with tons of gifts. More than I could even imagine. We really just need to pick up a few more things and then we are set on Baby Girl supplies for a while. I will post a blog later in the week about the shower! Keep us in your prayers friends as we head into the final few weeks.
