Well, three things I said I would never do: quit the news business, be a stay at home mom and start a blog...and looky here....I am about to do all of the above. I am a shadow of what I once was! This was how we spent our nights years ago! Oh my...
Now things look like this...Cute chunky babies, sonograms and good behavior all over the place!
A lot has changed. Especially in the last five years. But it has been great. I moved from New Jersey to Iowa and from Iowa to New York. During this time God led me to an amazing husband, I made wonderful friends and I found out I am pregnant with our first child!
For both Josh and I, the last six months has been a bit crazy. We moved from Des Moines, IA to Albany, NY, so I could take a job reporting at a television station. But within six months I got pregnant and we decided I would leave my job. So now I get to stay home with baby D...and I am super excited about it.
Now, don't get me wrong, I loved the news business but television reporting takes a very special person. A person who can sacrifice time with family, live on little money and lose their sanity weekly. I have been a print and television journalist for nearly a decade and I can't tell you how many holidays I worked, overtime I didn't get paid for, below zero temperatures I have stood outside in and heartburn that has ensued from this career. I wasn't prepared to and didn't have the motivation to continue doing that with baby D. It's pretty crazy how things worked out but I think this is the way it was supposed to happen...Also, I think I got to a point in my career where I was tired of being forced to report about stories that really didn't matter to most people...and I actually wanted to be able to express my opinion, stand up and be loud for what we believe is right...so I'm sorry to some of my friends out there...the facebook rants will continue...I will just transfer them to here =)
Anyway!....I won't quit writing. I have been a writer my entire professional life, so that will not stop. I will be freelancing and writing on this thing to keep busy and update family and friends on what is happening over here at the Duvall house.
